GABS 2026 Updates
Dear GABS2026 Participant,
In our second newsletter, we would once again like to share the latest information ahead of the conference so that you are fully prepared for your stay in Ghana.
At GABS 2026, you will meet more than 500 participants from Germany and numerous African countries. German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has confirmed his attendance, and his counterpart, President John Dramani Mahama, will personally open GABS 2026 as well. At present, we also expect ministers and government representatives from South Africa, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Nigeria, and Uganda - some accompanied by business delegations from their respective countries.
We would like to share with you three tips and one conference highlight. In this issue: Entry documents, airport shuttles to the hotel, and registration on the evening before the conference. Plus one of our program highlights: a visit to the Team Germany Lounge.
Tip 1: Have All Required Documents Ready for Your Entry into Ghana
You can find all the essential information for your preparations in the “Travel” section at www.gabs2026.com. If you have any questions about applying for a visa, the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana team is available to assist you (info@gabs2026.com); please feel free to get in touch. Please also remember to have your vaccination certificate ready as proof of your yellow fever vaccination. It will be checked immediately after your arrival in Accra.
Tip 2: Hotel Shuttle Services Are Available
Our conference hotels can provide a shuttle bus from the airport to your accommodation if requested. Please contact your hotel by email in advance to confirm your seat on the bus. This will make your arrival easier. The distances between our various conference hotels and the Kempinski Hotel are manageable, and despite Accra’s occasionally heavy traffic, journeys generally take no longer than 20 minutes.
Tip 3: Register for GABS 2026 on the Evening Before the Conference
On Monday, 23 November, we invite you to a pre-conference reception in the garden of the Kempinski Hotel. From 7:00 p.m., we look forward to welcoming all arriving guests and hope you will join us, too. You will also be able to register and collect your official conference badge that evening. Our registration desk will be open. Take advantage of this opportunity and save time the following morning when the conference begins.
Program Highlight: Team Germany Lounge
The close cooperation between Africa and Germany spans a range of fields and is brought to life by a variety of partners. As “Team Germany,” these partners work closely together locally and coordinate their activities. Team Germany is present in every African country, and here in Ghana, too, this collaboration works very well. Visit the Team Germany Lounge at GABS 2026 to learn which German organizations are represented here in Ghana, how they can support you, and how you can benefit from their work. And while you are there, you can also enjoy homemade German cheesecake at the lounge’s coffee bar
